48 hours in Beautiful Florence

Hi everyone! Sharing with you photos of the next leg of our honeymoon, which is the city of Florence.

I've never been to Florence before. So, when we were doing our honeymoon planning a month ago, I had to do some extensive research on how to make the best out of our short stay here. We wanted to see the Tuscan vineyards and initially planned to rent a car and just do our exploring on our own. But at the last minute, I decided to book a private car tour, and i found out later that it was the better decision. A huge thanks to Tuscany Car Tours for taking us around Pisa and Chianti and making our first taste of Tuscany a memorable one.

So we started off with our list by going to the places outside Florence. Of course,
the leaning tower of Pisa was at the top of our list, which was about a good hour away from central Florence. On a good November day, it wasn't so flocked with tourists. You can actually get a few seconds where you can snap a couple of photos at the foot of the tower without having other tourists walk in front, around and in between you and the leaning tower.

After that, we drove to Chianti and had lunch at Castellina. Chianti is part of the Tuscan region, and we definitely saw a lot of vineyards all throughout the one-hour ride from Pisa to Chianti. On a Sunday, most of the shops and restaurants here were closed. Which we didn't mind, since we got to take lots of photos that looked like we had the whole place all to ourselves! When we finally couldn't stand the cold (coming from a tropical country, one degree Celsius felt really cold for us!), we went inside Antics Trattoria La Torre for some hearty lunch.

Our second day was spent walking around the city. We were at Hotel Alinari, which was very near the Firenze S.M.N. station, and within walking distance from most of the pretty sights and boutique-lined Florence streets. Hotel Alinari, by the way, had a nice view of the Duomo from their dining area balcony (see photo below).

Of course, a must-see was the Ponte Vecchio (photo above), which was a historical bridge spanning the Arno river. It's a historical landmark of Florence since it was the only bridge that stood the siege of the city during the early times. Now it's lined with jewelry shops, Rolex and Patek Philippe, being a few. The florence Cathedral (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), with its Duomo was also such a beauty! And boy, it was huge!
